Shelly Farnham was tired of graffiti taggers defacing her garage door.
The Seattle artist painted murals on the door, thinking the taggers would respect another person's art, but it didn't work.
So she painted Barack Obama's face on her garage. To her, Obama is a symbol of hope and inclusiveness. And Farnham hopes it's the one image taggers might leave alone.

The gang mentality, if indeed the source of the tagging IS gang in origination, is to mark your spot. Your turf. Marking that spot means it belongs to no one else. Period. They don't care whos face is on that wall, jesus christ, hitler, LL Cool J, George Bush, Dori Monson or Fidel Castro..Its all a target and will get painted over.. If its just simple graffiti done in the vandalism style by some local punks then its even more likely to be remarked..
