Wally Walker has been on the stand now for an hour and a half. The Sonics lawyers have been using his own emails to try and prove that he was working with the city of Seattle to put together a plan for a new Arena. And a new name surfaced in the process: Former Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Mike McGavick. The Sonics lawyers have been going through a set of emails, including one written by McGavick to Walker: "re sonics, a friend of mine has been writiing and suggesting that i try to champion their staying when I get home, at least to put the seattle ds and oly ds in a tough spot. very machievellian stuff he that he thinks might work, or at least be fun. What's Slade got cooking?" Another between John Stanton, who was part of the Ballmer group, and Walker dated July 24, 2007: "agree completety that it should be excruciating for Clay to consider early departure. at some point they will need Patty and Maria's help if this become a real fight." Plus, the Sonics showed powerpoint slides, which were shown to Steve Ballmer, Slade Gorton, McGavick, and Walker at Walker's House. It was a presentation titled: "The Sonics Challenge, why a poisioned well affords a unique opportunity." The Sonics showed slides from the presentation which detailed the groups plan of attack, and have been using all this to dry and prove a direct link between the City of Seattle and the Ballmer Group. Walker also acknowledged he was not fond of Governor Christine Gregoire, saying in 2007 she was "risk averse". The court has taken a break, and we expect more slides and emails to surface.
