Sherman Alexie just spoke to the media after coming off the stand. He said he felt the weight of being the voice of the fan during the trial, and reinforced how he believes on certain nights, the Key is the most diverse spot in Seattle. He was also complementary of Clay Bennett, saying "he's living my dream". When asked what he would tell him if they were in a room alone, he said there are cities which don't want their teams, and Seattle is not one of them, "and then we'd talk Basketball." Alexie then went on and told the story of how he first went to his seats with his father and how special a moment it was. He broke down in tears telling the story. He had previously revealed in court that it was his dad who got him interested in basketball. Alexie said told the story about he and his father, when they when they found their seats together, it was the completion of a long journey for his family. For if he didn't have the success, it wouldn't have been possible. He says now "he sits in the arena with his father's ghost." Alexie was also very complementary of Oklahoma City, and credited it with having diverse demographics, and a large Native American population which is a huge part of his fan base. But, he also suggested the team would be worse in the city because players wouldn't want to live there because of the city's size.. |
