« A fraternal gesture goes a long way |Main| Lab-coat fashion at the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine »
Fraternities get a lot of bad press, at least that is the complaint we hear often when we're out on the UW Greek Row. Too often the media focuses on the drinking or the hazing. Some of the TKE members said they were outraged by the attack, and that no one stopped to help her. Others just want the woman, who fled the horrors of Rwanda, to know that she can find friends here through complete strangers. 7 Comments |
Good PR for the Frat. Would have been more of a gesture if they weren't just charging for beer.
Utter ignorance, don't comment if you don't know the system
I think that the compassion and kindness displayed by the UW Greek Row was awesome. Hopefully, this young woman can begin to heal, learning about the kindness of strangers and their generosity and that their are people that do care and are concerned about her welfare. I say kudos to all involved.
Wouldn't it have been more useful if they had actually, I don't know, called 911 on the night of the attack?
wait. I don't think they knew about the attack till after it happened! but what they did was amazing! and i think they should get credit for that.
Priscilla - In your haste to minimize this noble gesture, you ignore the fact that this attack happened on 18th Ave NE, while Tau Kappa Epsilon is located on 21st Ave NE. Hence, they did not witness the attack, and therefore were not in a position to call 911.
Even when a fraternity does something fantastic, there are always individuals who are looking to tarnish their image. Shame on you. I applaud the gentlemen of TKE for going above and beyond by helping out a member of their community when they are in need. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim of this senseless act of violence through her recovery process.
