Coffee With That Roadblock?

Want to know what's really happening behind the scenes of the Western WA flood disaster? Unsung acts of kindness.
In all honesty, every single police officer and fire fighter I have personally encountered has gone out of his/her way to be helpful.

They have helped us negotiate around and thru closed roads to help us do our jobs-- which is to show you the enormity of the tragedy and to bring you stories of how people are coping. Every National Guard member has treated us with kindness, as they've manned the roadblocks and helped drivers with directions around the lengthy detour. And, yes-- one of them offered me coffee as he directed me onto the closed freeway. They, in turn, want to thank the citizens who have brought them meals and hot drinks as they stand out in the dark and cold.
Disasters and tragedies like this often create anonymous heroes.
Sadly, you may not always hear about their service because they are the humble ones out there, doing work and seeking no publicity, the neighbors silently pitching in to help the guy across the fence. If you are one of them -- please accept this simple "thank you."

Real heroes never ask for publicity. Good point, Tricia.

I agree, we should say thank you, it just takes a moment to show these peeps the appreciation they deserve. I know that Washington State has the best Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters in the nation.
Thank you being there LEOFF and the guard for putting it on the line.

i am deeply sorry for the losses from the desasters but it is great to see the kindness being offered and a little generosity in the news instead of the ongoing crime and badthings in the news.
