Want to know what's really happening behind the scenes of the Western WA flood disaster? Unsung acts of kindness. They have helped us negotiate around and thru closed roads to help us do our jobs-- which is to show you the enormity of the tragedy and to bring you stories of how people are coping. Every National Guard member has treated us with kindness, as they've manned the roadblocks and helped drivers with directions around the lengthy detour. And, yes-- one of them offered me coffee as he directed me onto the closed freeway. They, in turn, want to thank the citizens who have brought them meals and hot drinks as they stand out in the dark and cold. 3 Comments |
Real heroes never ask for publicity. Good point, Tricia.
I agree, we should say thank you, it just takes a moment to show these peeps the appreciation they deserve. I know that Washington State has the best Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters in the nation.
Thank you being there LEOFF and the guard for putting it on the line.
i am deeply sorry for the losses from the desasters but it is great to see the kindness being offered and a little generosity in the news instead of the ongoing crime and badthings in the news.
