How much is enough?

10:39 PM Tue, Oct 16, 2007 |

Today, I reported on a repeat drunk driver accused of crashing into an innocent commuter in Federal Way. Witnesses ran him down and held him until police arrived.
Last week, I reported on a teenager dying, her boyfriend critically injured, after a repeat drunk driver hit them while driving the wrong way down I-5.
Two in two weeks.
Just months ago, a Redmond woman blew a record .47, only to have her record beat the following month in Pierce Coutny by another woman blowing a .50.
How many chances should these offenders get? How many people innocent people will suffer?

As long as our elected officials are out there getting DUI's of their own, what would be the incentive to pass a law that would REALLY punish offenders?

HOW MANY CHANCES ? ? ?

NONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drink and drive ... get caught...game over !!!

The rest of the comunity should not be subjected to someone elses selfish idiocy ! Using a "Disease" as an excuse is just that..AN EXCUSE ! Stop whining and expecting sympathy for your disease. NO-ONE feels sorry for you. I have the same disease... but like any other illness, whining does not overcome any illness. I was a drunk - I got help and no longer drink. Later , I got cancer .. I got help and no longer have cancer ... and I still did not drink. Later , I was diagnosed with an incurable auto-immune disease that causes my own immune system to slowly and continually munch away at my own body ...I have gotton help , I live in reality , and through more than a dozen surgeries and two very close brushes with death from disease ....I STILL DON'T DRINK ! I am not stronger than anyone else , I am no better or worse than anyone else, I just know I have no right to subject innocent peoples lives, safety, wellbeing , to utter selfishness.
Drinking and driving should NEVER, EVER be treated by the courts or anyone as a second chance situation. Stop whininng and grow up ! "It's hard" is the common excuse for a drunk. Ya get what ya ask for !

Drinkning and driving...One up ...ONE DOWN!
