Tony Murphy and John Preston were driving through Kent last month, when they saw someone's house being consumed by flames. The home already looked as if the roof could cave at any moment... and Tony and John were told there was a man trapped inside. Without a thought, they raced into the home and were able to rescue the disoriented man inside. One of the heroes, Tony, suffered smoke inhalation and he's still paying off the resulting $2,200 in medical bills. Nevertheless, he says he'd do it again; because the reward of saving a life offers more riches than most of us will ever know. 10 Comments |
Is donation information available? There have to be others who would like to help. Often help comes in other ways than financial. I would love to see something aired.

I cannot believe that mother of rescued son, who yelled for help, did not offer to pay for medical bills. Not only that, whole family should show more gratitude and reward him for saving son's life! (Some people these days are just so irresponsible and ruthless.)

Was there no fire insurance on this building? How about the family of the person he saved? It would not be unreasonable to ask them to help pay.
The home owners insurance company should have to pay for the medical bills. KUDOS to the hero's here! I hope that when I need help someone will come to my rescue and not think anything of it!
There is no question here. These two men put their fellow man before themselves and they should be rewarded for it.
I have done business with Precision Door in Tacoma and I would only hope that they pay these men's medical expences. How honorable to have such men working for them, people in this day and age just dont do things like that anymore, but they did. Pay the medical bills along with honoring them.
It's not exactly reasonable to EXPECT that Precision Door should pay Tony's expenses incurred because of this. However, it certainly could be spun as good PR should they 000+is a fair chunk of change.
Instead, I'd like to see the community rally around this gentleman and pitch in through donations in order to help him out. It's an example of selflessness, like Tony's, that we(the community) need to hold up above all the rest of the scum and villainy that seems to get the majority of press these days. Community is built on good will toward our fellow man/woman/children.
(Note: And to those who suggest that the homeowner should offer to pay the medical bills - wouldn't it be best to understand what their current means are before criticizing them for not stepping up? I don't know the specifics myself, but clearly they just lost EVERYTHING AND THE HOUSE in a fire... *sheesh*)
