Sometimes a story can put life in perspective.
This week I met a 12 year old girl named Kiki Castro.
The moment I saw her I knew she was special. I noted how beautiful she was, and although I saw she had no hair, I think it just shows how striking she is.
Kiki has cancer, and recently she completed several months of chemotherapy.
Despite this, Kiki is so positive about life and her future. I met her at Julep Nail Salon, where Seahawks wife Sarah Hasselbeck treated 6 girls including Kiki, to a spa day.
All of the girls are receiving treatment at Children's Hospital.
While talking to Kiki, I couldn't get over how mature she was. She wants to be a singer one day, and she told me that although people often stare at her, she is who she is, and nothing can take that away from her, not even the cancer.
Wow! What a powerful statement from a child.
I think we can all learn a thing or two from these special children, I know I did.
