Terapon Adhahn - suspect in other cases?

12:49 PM Fri, Jul 13, 2007 |

Now we know why Police have been slow to release information in the disappearance and death of Zina Linnik.

Chief Don Ramsdell dropped a bombshell during an early afternoon press conference.

Police and federal agents think they've got their suspect, and they are looking to see if he is connected to other unsolved local and national crimes.

Immediately, the assembled reporters thought about the other horrible unsolved crimes in our community.
Adre'anna Jackson. Teekah Lewis.

His name is Terapon Adhahn.
He immigrated from Thailand, and is a level one sex offender. He lives in Parkland.

But they can't say what he was doing in the Tacoma Hilltop Neighboorhood on the 4th of July.

This story will continue to develop, and as evidenced by your postings, raise questions about multiple elements of our society.

I hope this man pays for what he did to that poor little girl ): It just breaks my heart.

Yet another reason for immigration reform. This monster shouldn't even be in our country.

Holly said:

I think of how I would feel if it was one of my grandkids (one of them is this girl's age) and I know I would never recover from the grief. My prayers for this family - I only pray this doesn't tear them apart but keeps them together in love for each of their remaining members.

Stephanie said:

This little girl should still be alive if he had been deported after his first conviction. Why aren't we deporting the illegal criminals? This family should NOT be suffering!

lisa said:

Do we need another example why immigration laws should be so stringent? And this also yet another example of how sex ofenders cannot be rehabilitated. Once they offend, they should be locked up for life, then we wouldn't have so many cases like these. Horrific. We're praying for you, Zina.

Anna said:

This guy was court ordered to undergo 5 years of rehab for sexual deviancy as a plea deal in his last case (rape of a family member > incest) and I think it just goes to show that these offenders cannot be rehabilitated. People who commit violent and or sex crimes against the most vulnerable -children - should be sentenced to death. Particularly when there is undeniable evidence like DNA. My heart goes out to the family and to anyone else who has lost a child to a crime like this.

Angela said:

My prayers go out to her family. I agree this man should have never been allowed in our country and should have been deported after his first offence. Why do we allow criminals a 2nd chance to cause more pain and devastation? People like him deserve to die and girls like Zina deserve a safe country.

Lisa said:

I have an idea: instead of taxpayers footing the bill (defense attorney, jailing, food, etc.) for what this monster has done to one of our children, let's get someone to donate their gun, get someone to volunteer ammo, and have an auction to see who makes the highest bid on getting to be the executioner. We could raise alot of money that could go for harsher laws involving sex offenders.

eric said:

"Many of us want to know why scumbags like this are not put away forever."

I can't seem to understand why he wasn't deported back in 1991.

More blood on the hands of the people who refuse to enforce our existing laws!

Igor said:

This is not an immigration issue- this is all about this stupid law which allows sex offenders to be released at the first place. The guy could not be an immigrant. My point is - those sex offenders should be locked away forever or castrated.

Steven said:

This disgrace of a human should be prosecuted to the fulles extent of the law and then executed without regards to cruel and unusual punishment guidelines. Better yet, we should refer back to the days of torture being used as a punishment to deal with these people. My heart goes out to the family of little Zina and I hope that she did not have to endure much at the hands of this guy.

How after this tragic story happening again and again in our country? How are we as Parents, Grandparents, ect. etc. suppose to be able to feel about our kids riding bikes, play with there friends, and just be kids with SCUMBUCKETS LIKE THAT walking around, but I bet we have some Jay Walker in the Prison.
We hear all the time Political Leaders blowing smoke about How are Kids are Safe? and how they Promise to do this and to do that to protect our kids, That is total crap, I think that is a horrid thing to lie about too. When are kids going to be able to be kids? I would like to see kids be able to live like I did when I was a kid, I could ride my bike, everyone watched over everyones kids, everyone knew everyone, that wasnt a hot topic when I was little girl, Now I feel like it happens so often that you have to start really asking yourself and others questions. Why was he not deported in 1991? Why was he so he can go back to Thailand and do that there to other kids? Why was he even out of prison that early?
The whole thing is just horrid, unethical, so now we just what wait for the next child.. When does it just stop, Something has to give, Somewhere in our Legal System there to be something or someone who can lite the fire and not back down. Why as a nation do we not join together and fight this fight. Our youths need to be protected, much more then they are.. Prayers and Thoughts to the family! I hope that your family can heal and find some sort of peace.

And went on to military reservation's to pick up broken vehicle's. He also helped some fella flip house's. I heard he had a past involving relative's who live in another state. Never would I think he was capable of doing such a terrible thing.

What I want to know is the names of groups that are already working vigilantly to get our lawmakers to make stricter laws & sentences for the sexual predators of children. And then, I hope to see each and every person blogging on this story amoung others to volunteer their time to help make it happen. We need to be the growing group of masses, not the other way around. "Be a part of the solution or you're just another part of the problem." Seriously...does anyone know groups who are working diligently on this?

I am disgusted with people that do this stuff to children!

However, I believe that we have to take more actions as far as these people go, One starting with having to watch our children more closely! It is not like it was before when children could just do as they pleased with out having to even think about some thing like this, it is our jobs to teach them and make them more aware of their surroundings and sick twisted perverted whacko's, like the freak who did that to that little girl. Secondly, where is our ploice/courts system? why aren't our children being protected from these sicko's even more so? Why are they being let loose time and time again, after they've already ruined peoples lifes and done sick crap like this? Where is the punishment for their crimes? Clearly nothing works to make these sickos stop, and yet, every one that turns them loose knows they are going to commit the crime again, so maybe we should punish them to death, or torture them first and punish them to death, make them pay for the sick things they've done, let them know how it feels! I believe we have nothing but a flawed system, and we all have to work together to fix it, because this problem only seems to get worse and worse! Parents do need to step up and watch their children like a hawk, I'm sorry if this offends any one, but i am tired of hearing people whine and cry that their babies got kidnapped, etc, when they weren't watching them! I mean come on, i see it every day people not paying attention to their children,as they trail behind their parents, yet the parents whine and cry when some thing bad happens, you are at fault too, for not being more proactive and watching your child!

I have young daughters and it is humans like this that scare me more than any "animal". Without morals, without humanity, not deserving of the air he breathes, the food he consumes or the pain he has caused.

I think his punishment should be to have an experience that mirrors as closely as possible that of his innocent victim(s). This includes all facets, up to and including his death in a manner that replicates as close as possible the way that he took Zina's life (but more painful if possible.)
We (we own our system) failed to properly "deter" this person before and now we will waste yet more resources defending this waste of life because he has "rights". (Apparently the victim has no rights.) The system has sadly failed again and Zina paid the ultimate price for us allowing this pro-criminal "justice" system to continue unchecked.

Del said:

This is why I support the death penalty if they are dead they can not slip through any cracks and they can not reoffend. Deporting him just puts other girls at risks and that is just wrong. If I was in his family he would have been hurt after raping his 1/2 sister. Oh hurt this guy

Lauren said:

All I can think about is how terrified Zina must have been the moment that this pathetic excuse for a human being grabbed her and drove off with her in his van. How at 9:45 on July 4th I was on the Fremont bridge waiting in excitement for the fireworks show to start, meanwhile in a town away an innocent little girl was about to be tortured and brought to her death. I have two little sisters. This story breaks my heart. I can't believe that people like this walk and live amongst us. Something NEEDS to be done so this STOPS happening again and again =(

Cindy said:

I agree with a previous poster. This is not an immigration issue. It's not fair to say the suspect should've been deported so he can do bad things to kids in his home country. He should not be allowed to do this to any kids anywhere. Period. The real problem lies in how wrong the system is currently dealing with sex offenders. I do not understand why Level 1 sex offenders should ever be allowed to live a "normal" life in our communities. They need to be isolated and monitored all the time so they cannot get near children and women. Even had the suspect registered I do not believe it would've save Zina's or other girls' lives. How many people actually go online to see if there are sex offenders in their area? Not to mention they got legs they can to to place where they can have access to kids. The only solution to this I can see is lock them up forever.

Nichole said:

I am disgusted by the individuals who believe that any human being who has been convicted of a sexual offense with a child can be reformed. It has been proving time and time again that they not only will ro-offend, but in most cases re-offend on an even more aggressive scale. From incest to murder, there is no way to help these monsters, nor should we except to eliminate there contact with a functioning society.

Kim said:

I'm responding to an earlier comment by "KHB" to wanting to know about groups who are working on stricter laws concerning this type of crime. John Walsh of the TV show, "America's Most Wanted" is working on exactly this problem. His son Adam was murdered over 25 years ago. For more information, go to www.amw.com. John is an amazing hero to many victims and his group may be able to help more peole get involved.

Zina died at the hands of a cruel stranger...one that should NEVER have been back on the streets, let alone in this country at all. WHY do we let these sex offenders go??? Rehabilited? Give me a break! Another beautiful child is dead and our tax dollars are going to support this guy for who knows how long. How many more children will die due to how our "justice" system handles sex offenders? Why do they label these people with numbers, slap them on the wrist, then let them out the door?
As a mom myself, my heart goes out to Zina's family and all of those who gave their time and effort to search tirelessly for her. The entire community grieves for Zina and many thoughts and prayers are with her and her family...she's in God's hands now.

I agree that this is not an imagration issue though I believe the imagration Law could be tougher. I also believe that a "proven" sex offender should not be allowed back in society!!!
Iknow someone this has happened to and the person that did it spent over 12 years in prison. He just got out last year and has been in and out of jail at lease 3 times since he got out. 1 time was for domestic violence. Put and keep them away. The only one's I think deserves a chance is a child who has offended. They reason why I say that is because they are kids who may have been a victim themselves who needs counseling and or some kind of help while they are young. Now if after that help they re-offend then it should be handled different. THE PROBLEM IS WE PUT TO MUCH TOMEN AND MONEY ON THINGS LIKE CASINOS AND NOTHING FOR THE TROUBLED KIDS. We need more programs to help toubled people period. Even an adult who was raped and or abused as an adult could be so confused that they may affend. Lets put our money wher it really will do some good!!

Many here mention earlier times when it used to be different as far as children playing out in the street on their own and being safe. So what happened? Well, I say, in the past if he'd done anything to his family member similar to what he has back in 1990, he would have been executed either by the system, or the relatives, or just outraged people, even by inmates in prison. Not anymore. So they get bolder, since they feel protected by the system that gets more and more liberal. Caring for these debris to be alive while for some reason simultaneously disregarding those truly innocent ones who can't protect themselves. So the changes in the system prompt changes in the behavior of criminals. There's always been and will be a percentage of people who are capable of these crimes. Only the prospect of facing devastating consequences (either by the system, or the people - one covering for the other, should one fail) could prevent them from actually going ahead.

Sometimes it seems to be a shame that we use the shield of being a civilized society to protect the rights of an indiviual like this. This poor young lady had her civil rights extremely violated yet in the coming days I am sure we will hear about how this poor creature is mentally ill and that he will not be eligible for the death penalty due to his "Cooporation in showing police where he left the body" As a society we have to decide collectively what we want done with these people. Do we want them locked in prison forever? Do we want them executed? Do we want to give them a lobotomy? Castration? I have my own views. I feel his civil rights should be violated in similar manner to his victim's but I am only one. We as a society have to get together, petition legislatures at grass roots level and do what needs doing to protect our children. I have 7 children ranging form age of 6 months to 19. 4 girls and 3 boys. If it were one of my children I might be the one on trial for taking matters into my own hands if I had the opportunity.

Hell why should they live at all. An Eye for an Eye

We as citizens have to understand that Level 1 sex offenders are not even traced on the sex offender web sites. We don't know how many of them there are, or where they are. And in many cases, we can't find them if we have been victims.
This has to change. We need to demand that this information is available!

This has nothing to do with immigration. Washington state is just full of a lot of perverts and the system cares more about their rights than that of our children.

Jennifer said:

In general sex offense cases are not an immigration issue, however, in this particular case it is. I agree that there is no rehabilitating any sex offender and that if the punishment were stricter there may be less offenses, maybe. But in general I do believe that if an immigrant commits any sort of felony, especially a sex offense, that should terminate their citizenship, if they had one to begin with, and be deported, and in most cases I can guarantee that the punishment for these kinds of crime in most other countries, would be harsher than 3 squares and protection from the general population.

Why did it take 12 hours to issue an Amber alert? The person, van and partial plate number was reported. That information led to him being found. Could he have been found sooner? The police said it was because they thought they had the van. Well how about issuing the alert first unless you are sure you have your perpetrator and know where the child is. I can't fully imagine the pain and horror this family must be feeling right now but perhaps down the road they can take some small degree of comfort knowing that at least someone saw enough to lead to this person so he can be stopped for good.

I dont think that anyone is saying that any particular race is more accountable than another, it is a well known statistic that of all races the white male, takes the cake for serial killings and serial sex offenses. All sex offenders should be severely punished. PERIOD. Rehabilitation does not work, their brains are irreparably dammaged. As far as the immigration thing goes it is just another piece of this particular puzzle, had this person been taken out of the country in 1990 there would be AT LEAST one less unnecessary casualty of a defective system, and defective sicko. All sex offenders, especialy of children, should be done away with, deporting someone is just putting them somewhere else to commit the same crimes, however, criminal behavior should be a condition of citizenship. I am all for people coming to the US to escape oppression and make better lives for themselves and have more opportunities, but if they are going to abuse the rights that they are given they should be taken away, whether they are of american descent or not. If they are a US native, let the US deal with them. If they are not, then their rights should be revoked and they should be punished according to US laws and if you are sent back into society it should not be US society. It should be straight from prison to whatever country they hailed from. I do believe that the US is too lenient on sex offenders and that execution is the only cure, but that is only my opinion and we have enough of our own nationals to deal with. If you are a legal immigrant and you abide by the laws (within reason) then you are welcome to be here and have nothing to worry about.

Why don't we have harsher laws? Why are people like this allowed back into society? Because the f'ing liberals feel that equal human rights belong to everyone including monsters like sex offenders. Liberals don't want to take away anyone's rights. Liberals feel that rehabilitation works and even monsters deserve kindness and understanding after destroying a human life and tearing apart a family. I say for every person who believes that a convicted child sex offender or child murderer deserves the right to continue living- I hope it happens to one of your own, then I'd like to hear you say "rehabilitation." It's bleeding hearts like you who think it always happens to someone else. Throw the religion and the human rights out the window with these monsters and let's clean up this country!!!

leonard stempkowski,

I think you have the wrong person. According to his neighbor, there was no mention of him living with a girlfriend or a family. Only that he stood outside and stared at children. I am sure if he had living arrangements as you mentioned, the neighbor would have discussed it. It appears he lived alone.

See the transcript for the Nancy Grace Show on 7/12/07

GRACE: What has become of a 12-year-old little Washington girl? Out to Amber Higgenbottom, neighbor of the man being questioned in this case and others. Welcome, Ms. Higgenbottom. Thank you for being with us. Did you see your neighbor, now a person of interest, on July the 4th?

AMBER HIGGENBOTTOM, NEIGHBOR OF PERSON OF INTEREST: No, I did not.

GRACE: Did you see his van?

HIGGENBOTTOM: No, it was not here, and I went to bed at 12:00, and it still was not home.

GRACE: Had it been there earlier during the day?

HIGGENBOTTOM: No, it was not.

GRACE: And so when you went to bed, no van. When did you first see the van back in his home?

HIGGENBOTTOM: When we woke up the next morning, his van was back.

GRACE: Did you have any idea, Amber, you were living next to a registered sex offender?

HIGGENBOTTOM: No, I did not.

GRACE: What else can you tell us about your neighbor?

HIGGENBOTTOM: He`s a very quiet man. He`s very strange. He likes to look at the children in the neighborhood. He stands outside underneath those trees and kind of acts like he`s doing little things in his yard and looks at the children around the neighborhood and just a quiet man. Nobody knew him. He didn`t really say hi to anyone, nothing.

GRACE: Well, Amber, I think we`re about to learn a lot more about him. With us, neighbor Amber Higgenbottom.

I think it's time we as citizens took back our streets and refused to put up with the lawmakers, etc. that allow these creeps to live among normal people. How about this...if we have to let these perverts out, imbed a tracking device that cannot be removed and WE tell THEM what areas they can live and work in. Not near families or schools or playgrounds, but some remote area where they can do no harm. If we have the technology to unlock cars from outer space, then we can use a tracking device that sounds an alarm when the pervert leaves his area. Also, we need to tatoo a big red dot on the tip of thier nose that glows in the dark and teach our kids to run screaming from anyone that has that tatoo. We need to have a way to identify and control these perverts since it's obvious we can't keep them in jail. And they lie about who they are so, good luck trusting them to tell us. Tatoos and tracking devices. And restrict them to the areas WE want them to live in. Oh, and if this sounds like a violation of their 'human rights' sorry, but you commit the crime, you have no rights...and you certainly aren't human!

My prayers go out to Zina's family and friends. Now, after reading update, the suspect may also be involved of another girl, Adre'Anna Jackson, who went missing in Dec '05 and found few months later, in April '06. If he is involved with both, possible more, he deserves death pentaly, we don't need this animal live in our community or society or Any state!

Jennifer said:

Yeah the best time to put the Amber Alert out would have been right away. Especially on the 4th of July when more than the normal amount of people were tuned in to news stations to see the fireworks shows, and people were out in the streets late, at the exact time this sicko took her. Duh. Put the alert out first, then follow up on leads. I would hate to think that in the 12 hours that the alert was not out there we could have found her, alive.

Jennifer said:

People who knew Gary Ridgeway and Ted Bundy and all other camoflauged devients, said they couldnt imagine hime doing that, so to you friend of guy who told them where to find the body... that point is moot.

Brandy said:

My thoughts go out to the family. It is heartbreaking that any family should go through this. A previous poster asked questions about why things are so much different now then before as far as safe kids. Everyone is so afraid of a lawsuit nowdays that nobody is held accountable anymore. Schools can't discipline or follow up on kids anymore because someone might sue the school. Parent's don't make their kids take responsibility for things and all these kids grow up with no concern for anyone but themselves. People don't get in other people's business and report things or protect neighbors for fear of getting sued or having someone retaliate. It's one of the same reasons we have so many gang problems and at risk youth. People need to be held accountable and we all need to instill a sense of community and duty in our kids so that future generations won't have to live in fear. Maybe if the powers that be put the same amount of energy into finding solutions to our own issues as they do other countrie's issues then maybe we would stop some of the violence. We keep hearing about needing to be protected from people outside of our country, how about being protected from the people inside of our country?

Cindy Hurst said:

People who offend/kill the children should be put to death. Unfortunately, our society holds very little value for the life of a child. For more than 30 years we've condoned murder in the womb of the innocent who have no say. It is no different than the law allows criminals against children to walk the streets for "good behavior" or a technicality in the prosecution. The truth is, when a person offends a child they are driving yet another stake into the heart of our future. Cruel and unusual punishment? Whatever happened to making the punishment fit the crime (isn't that what our Constitution says?). The only drawback to that is these sickos would probably enjoy the torture! I say a bullet to the brain is a very inexpensive way to rid our society of the lechers of children. Bang! Bang! He won't do that again!

First, I want to know why this man was just a Level1 sex offender! What part doesn't the court system get? RAPE is RAPE!

If a creep will rape one of his own then he will certainly rape and murder a stranger. Why don't these children who have suffered rape and are murdered by those known to them count as much in this country? They are treated like second class children/victims just because the predator is kin to them.

Level 1 is a sick joke. He didn't pee in a park (Level1) he RAPED a child in his family. Grrr

Now onto this man. He should have been immediately deported way back when he offended. We tend to see these kind of horrific rape/murders by pedophiles more often it seems but only about 5% of the sexual predators are complete strangers to the children.

My heart breaks for this family and the pain that this monster has put upon them but we are going to have to start taking a good look inside some of these homes too at the other 95%.......the ones that hurt kids, rapes and murders them can be the very ones they know. We have got to protect all of our children.

Of course they are always model prisoners, they are know how to play the game and fool the therapists by saying all the right things and away they go. What galls me to my last nerve is how these scumbags have rights. He will have a lawyer to advocate on his behalf and I don't give a rip if he was abused that is no excuse to harm children. I am so sick of the bleeding hearts who think the DP is cruel and we should show mercy to these dirtbags who rape and kill children! I agree with the poster about illegals in this country. My cousin died on 911 in the towers, he was a fireman who gave his life and the ones that took it were in this country on EXPIRED student visa's and therefore should have been deported and this POS should have been too. But no, now we have people saying he slipped through the cracks. What we have for corporal punishment in this country could not come close to what these dirtbags deserve. 20 years from now they get a needle and the first shot puts them to sleep, how is this justice? Meanwhile while they sit with medical care, three hots, TV, mail and phone service, lawyers, all on the tax payer's nickel while said counsel appeals their sorry worthless hides and therefore it takes years before the families of all these beautiful children that died at the hands of these twisted freaks see him finally pay, but folks there ain't no closure!!! Now my heart goes out to that angel's family, I am sick over this and I think Washington needs the DP and he is the first up at bat.

But I will say this: Dang was raised in Thailand, so obviously he is influenced by Thai culture. His sweet-natured demeanor doesn't surprise me. The fact that he was humble and kind on the surface doesn't surprise me. Kreng jai.

What concerns me, truly, is that he obviously had something else going on under the facade. He was caught but instead of being punished, his charge was reduced and he was let off with little more than psychiatric treatment.

He raped that girl! It was reduced to "incest". You know.. big difference there. Both are horrible but rape is violent and brutal. Incest is fairly common in most child molestation cases.

thailandchani said:

Len, that's the whole thing I want to avoid. Reactions based on emotion alone. If the problem is going to be solved, it will need to be done with jai ren, a cool heart.

It's hard because all of us feel so badly for that family. We all empathize.

But in order to prevent this in the future, someone needs to be rational and circumspect, doing something to prevent it from happening in the future.

You are so right about lots of assumptions. Of course! All the coverage I've seen on TV is emotion-based and meant to instill fear.

I just want to see the kids safe. And I know that will take laws in place that will be followed. No shortcuts.

If anyone knows of a demonstration or something please let me know. I myself had an experience with one, they are not sick. They do not deserve the treatment. I refuse to pay taxes for people like him to get treatment. And by the way, the social worker, or whoever let them back on the streets deserves jail time too!

Ok, so a previous poster harkened back to the good ol' days when kids could play outside without worry. Yes, there was such a time, but even in those times, devious sexual behavior was happening all around us. The "good ol' days" were the days when people would hide these problems within their families, sweep it under the rug if you will. There are plenty of adults who were victims of this abuse and did not receive any mental health assistance because there was no awareness. Because of programs that are available to victims as well as the perpetrator, there is more awareness. News outlets are covering these stories and making it known there are offenders out there. With the help of the internet, you have the ability to see who are the registered offenders in your area. Knowledge is power. Educate yourself about your neighborhood with the help of materials like this.

I think one of the solutions to problems like these is prevention as they most certainly cannot be rehabbed. All these grown-ups who have had this happen to them need to seek assistance on how to break the cycle. I'm sure some of you reading this have a history within your family of some type of sexual abuse.

My heart definitely goes out to the Linnik family. I was 100% heartbroken when they broke the news yesterday. We were all waiting for a good outcome and not wanting to believe that there are cretins like this who exist on this planet. I don't care what race you are. Crimes against children are absolutely intolerable. Stop feeling sorry for these a-holes and trying to rehab them. There needs to be a more permanent solution.

Death is pretty permanent.

This is such a horrible act that deserves the most abject punishment, but this is absolutely not an immigration or racial issue AT ALL! What if an American white guy did it?
Please enough with the racial/immigration. That has nothing to do with it. My heart goes out to Zina's family (who are also immigrants). This is very sad and I was really hoping for the best outcome, and that did not happen. Zina and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ali said:

It takes a great amount of ignorance for people to say this has nothing to do with immigration... It's very easy blaming a person who's an inmigrant... but can you guys figure out... If the court system would deny that pedophile's plea of taking counceling and instead sit his ass in jail for decades to come, this would never happen. The justice system has soft laws for sexual predators until they kill one, two or even three victims. The justice department job isn't leave these sexual predators in the streets like they're doing now, but to keep them away from society just like the drug dealers, serial killers and scumbags. Well believe it len, he led the FBI to her body. How did he do that if he was not responsible?

Read the remarks the psychiatrists wrote about him in 1990 after he "violently raped" his half sister. He was court ordered by some bleeding heart judge to attend 60 months of pedophile therapy after some JACKASS Lawyer pled his case down to incest. He was described as one that had deep emotional trouble and was a pedophile.

Yet, you don't believe he could have done this. Let's wait until the final body count, shall we. He has been on the loose for 18 years on America's streets among our most innocent, defenseless children.

You don't believe it Len? Well, you better start. This is NO railroad job on your "nice friend".

There are web sites to let you know where these offenders are living. You can also contact your local law inforcement office. At one point any bastard will do it again. There is no such thing as rehab for those THINGS! All sex offenders, real sex offenders need to be jailed for life or killed.

Tanya said:

FYI - Terapon was a legal immigrant too. He had a green card. I also do not believe that this is an issue with immigration. As one of the posts said that might be a white guy (and by the way, that is the first time that I hear of non white guy committing this crime). Aldo, I have looked into the sex offenders in my area, they are ALL white. Yes, immigration laws need to be more stricken but that does not relate to the issue.

Patti said:

I'm not on the offenders side! What they do is wrong! But if people want change then they need to stand up and get things changed instead of sniveling on blogs. Yes, there are those who are rehabilitated and there are those who can never be, and they do lock them up for the rest of their lives. On McNeil Island there is a special prison for sex offenders that can never go back out in society even after their sentence is up. The people made that happen. So when people stand up together change can happen!

Again, many of you have said we can't tell who these sex offenders are...we could if they had a big red, glow-in-the-dark tatoo on the tip of their nose! This guy raped his half sister. If they had tatooed him before the "treatment" program and before they let him out of jail, WE WOULD'VE RECOGNIZED HIM as a sex offender...and so would our kids! And did you not see the report from his shrink? Clearly, this dirtbag exhibited all the behavior of one who would offend again. With a tracking device imbedded in his body where it couldn't be removed, we'd have know where he was at all times. Let's face it, our society cares more about money than anything else. Women don't matter and children don't matter at all. Bless the beasts and the children. They have no voice, they have no choice. They have to depend on us to protect them and we are doing a sorry job of it. And an automatic death penality won't work. I think he should die, too. But in all practicality, there is too much room for error and some innocent people who might be set up by a crazy ex-lover or ex-spouse could die in vain. Besides, having to spend the rest of your life in a compound, living off the land and fighting off wild animals and other sex offenders is much worse than death. Give them nothing. Just a tracking device, a tatoo and a trip into the woods.

I also am confused as to why this dirt bag ( and I refuse to call him a human being) was given such a short sentence from his earlier offenses. It just goes to show that the punishments for sex offenders and all criminal activity needs to be harsher and In my opinion once convicted of such violent crimes ones rights should be abolished and an offenders should be controlled on where to live and monitored by the state much like pets are with an implanted chip. Deport immigrants who commit serious crimes, after they serve their prison sentences. Deport them ONE time only. If they are ever caught in the US again, they should immediately be sent back by "airmail" to their home country. I am using "airmail" as a euphemism for dropping them out of an airplane without a parachute.

If I had deep pockets, like Bill Gates or Paul Allen, I would immediately hire a team of lawyers to sue the State of Washington, Pierce County, INS, and any other useless bastards that are responsible for this piece of shit being out on the streets. Toni, are you saying that you believe that sexual deviants of a violent nature should be protected? (These would be rapists and child molestors)

I understand the "slippery slope" of judging all to a strict standard. I fear the reactionary BS that follows a high profile case BUT I am also opposed to allowing "these people" to continue to live. Now, question is: How do we strictly define "these people"? To what definition would you want your brother, sister, friend judged? Do we want to expend tremendous resources to house those who commit crimes determined to be horrific? Gary Ridgeway murdered prolifically but not put to death because the state bargained that away for hopes of more admissions of murder. FLA put Bundy to death. I resent a drain of my tax dollars to support defective merchandise. I am not "Republican" but grew up understanding self responsibility and consequences. Maybe this freak killed because he know that if he was identified he would be prosecuted and sent "home". He no longer has a "home". His home should be in the general inmate population AFTER that population is advised and armed. Or let him loose and free the populace to determine where he should go. Hell is probably the best place. After all, he is in America, asked to come here and should be judged by our standards, not the cultural norms of his former home.

What would be your optimum handling of this individual going forward. I'm assuming your are liberal and have other ideas.

Did he have a compelling story? Was he escaping religious torment? Probably not. We just "green carded" him and gave him free rein. The immigration policy that allowed him here is probably to fault and certainly our legal system for failing to accurately prosecute a violent crime in lieu of plea bargaining. How do we convey to our prosecuting attorneys that it is not acceptable to plea bargain for these vermin?

No easy answer. I wish someone could come up with one.

Why was this criminal allowed to have a green card? It is common knowledge that sex predators cannot be cured of their urges. Why are any of them allowed to roam free? Why are illegal immigrants, especially those who have also committed other crimes, allowed to remain in America, while we continue to pay for their education and social services? I realize big business wants an overabundance of both legal and illegal immigrants here to help lower wages and increase profit margins. When will people figure out the other costs, like lack of safety, aren't worth it to those of us who are legal citizens? Wake up America! Be aware that many illegal "immigrants" (a misnomer) are illegal because their criminal past won't allow them to become citizens through legal channels. I think America needs to take care of its current citizens and that allowing too much immigration is putting us on the road to being a country without a middle class, and one of only haves and have nots.

I stand corrected, the poster is right it was Cambodia but they had also done a show on child sex slaves and abductions of children all over the world. Thailand isn't that far from Cambodia so it is pretty much the same hood. But that is neither here or there and I have been asking the same question as to why a picture of him has not been released. Maybe after he is appears in court then your reporters out there will be showing pictures of him. As for what we are not doing about these horrific crimes against children and how these laws need to change and fast and I can tell you I have called every state rep, senator and the governor and expressed my outrage and I had been bugging them about passing Jessie's law here in MI and they have as they know themselves what evil lurks out there and they too, are parents. Our version is an automatic 25-life the FIRST time they offend because our lawmakers know that if released on probation, the victim suffers great anguish and are angry and scared he will come after them again. Also, they knows these pieces of shit if left to them will NOT register as an offender and know how to play fool the judge and the therapist. And what I am pushing for here as well is the civil commitment statue. What this means is when their jail time is up they go right to a secure facility such as mental hospital for life as they ALL are dangerous and there is no such thing as a low-level sex offender. You touch a kid in a sexual manner you are a pedophile and a danger even if they just shoved a hand down their pants, that is how they start and we all know how it stops, when the child is raped and/or murdered.

NY and NJ have passed this into law already. I bet my own ass this scumbag is responsible for the other missing and presumed dead children. I agree with the poster if you tatoo their forehead with I am a sex offender then we would know who they are and what they look like. Putting these freaks on electronic monitors, hell they cut those off, that is not a fool proof method there. But the best solution would be to kill them, that way you know for sure they won't hurt anyone again.

Terapon is the son of thai parent's. His mother married a US serviceman in the 80ties. The wife and son have a visa/greencard prioriety to be issued legal immigrant status. About deportation. From What I know, an immigration act was passed in 1998 that required the immediate deportation of green card holder's if they committed certain act's. Even domestic abuse is a deportable offence. And the law is retroactive in time. Law enforcement does not look for these convicted green card holder's. Even if their is a dui type offense. Only, that I know of, is when these people cross a US border and return to the US are their ID's checked. At which time they are either taken to a detention center, or, if they come back to the US thru an airport, Then they will be visited by immigration officials and placed in detention and processed for deportation. An incident that occured 40 or 50 year's ago will cause this person to be deported. I can only say of dang what I know of his persona. I had no idea he was a sicko monster.

A little girl has been missing in Kennewick, WA for several years now. Her name is Sophia and was 5 years old at the time. They didn't activate the Amber Alert until the next day. They were looking for a gray van after she disappeared. Could this guy have taken this child? You wonder if the police in Tacoma ever heard about the gray van they were looking for in this case.

lens said:

Terry, Terapon has owned this van for less than a year. When I knew him and saw him often, he did not own or have or drive a grey van. I saw this van for the first time about 8 month's ago. It was loaded with construction tools. I can tell you that from my limited perspective, and the visit's from various new's outlet's, and the police, that law enforcement is way ahead of you..

We should demand the immediate removal from office of Gregware, Dicks, Murrey, Cantspell and McIdiot for their zelious support of illegalism in our country, especially Gregwhore for her street walking sellout of our state to the Mexican regime, how dare this &^%$ ask for more "migrant" (B.S. cover word for illegal vermin) slaves to come to our state!

We need a revolt in this country to clean our capitals of these money sucking criminals, anyone endorsing the importation of illegal aliens into our country is a traitor.

I have read so many comments on this board and there is a lot of public outrage which is understandable. He was allowed into this country because of his mother's marriage and he probably didn't have a criminal record before he got here..they check that big time. He made a plea deal before with his previous sex crime and got probation and treatment, sometimes that works for people sometimes that fails. I wonder how much time passed between his crime and failure to register? Was there a warrant out for him due to that? were they monitoring that? Even if he registered, would that have stopped this? NO. Serial child killers, pedophiles, rapists, etc., do these things because they have triggers and they are unpredictable to anyone but them. Look at what happened to Shasta Groene. Duncan was supposed to register and he took off, stole cars, killed her family and raped her and made her help him dispose of her brother's body. He was from Tacoma - the parkland area. The only one to really blame in this situation is the killer. The parents did what they could to protect their child as I am sure she walked that alley many times without incident. The system is major overloaded to realistically monitor people as they should. Instead of us Washington residents sitting idly by and letting prosecutors make deals for lesser sentences to 'save' the counties money by not having a trial or 'show us where the body is' crap; we should have a say in that! This guy probably just beat the death penalty because he told his lawyer-who works for the county- where she was. These prosecutors get to do this without the consent of the victims' families! that is justice? I don't think so. Look at Gary Ridgeway, prime example. Pierce county has yet to charge him with the murder he did in this county, then they could seek the death penalty but it wouldn't be in effect until his life sentence for King county had been served. How dumb is that? What is the point of multiple life sentences? There shouldn't be a life sentence unless we had special prisons in Eastern Washington for lifers that were hard labor camps like they have in the south so the prisoners suffer in this life and in the afterlife as well. You can punish a sex offender all you want to but they only feel bad because they got caught, they have an illness that usually cannot be cured. Castration or being able to remove their sexual drive might be the answer but with all of these people that are too compassionate in this world, I doubt it would be allowed. I feel for her family, that loss is so deep for them. I feel for her neighbors that wish they could have stopped this. I feel for the cops that were racing the clock trying to find her. Why did it take so long to connect this guy's van with the plate number and why did they do surveillance on him instead of just rollng up and start questioning the situation? I feel for this guys neighbors that probably think she was in that house alive at some point and they didn't know. The bottom line is that we need to stop prosecutors from making these 'deals', we need to have a choice in the matter if there is sex offenders living in our neighborhood- a community vote to get them out. So what if they did their time? If you are going to put labels on them 'most likely to re offend' then why should we sit around and wait for that to most likely happen in our neighborhood? Take some of the tax dollars and make a housing project for sex offenders with on site psychologists and group meetings that they have to live in after leaving a half way house instead of totally releasing them to the public. Get stiffer sentences for these crimes, whatever it takes. Stop putting them in prison sections with other sex offenders, put them in general population...they put them in general neighborhoods when they are out! I raised three kids and my oldest is a girl. I taught her to scream, kick, bite and fight and run like hell if she was bothered. We should teach our kids in school from first grade how to do that to keep them safe. Teach them to scream their name and such. I know that is what Zina did but I am sure it would save some kids. This world is full of evil people and bad things happen to good people every day, it just sucks when it is in your back yard. I at this point just get upset that my tax dollars, since we are the highest taxed state in the nation, go to pay for these criminals' food and such and they get to sit on their asses and just exist. Our prison system is too soft and our laws are too lenient, look at how many times you can get a DUI before you really get into trouble. The only way change can happen is when we as a whole stand up and start calling our state representatives and demand that change. They get paid BIG bucks to sit in an office and have a good job doing 'what is best for us little folks'. We are a nation of the free and the brave, yet we all sit down or bend over and take it. The saddest thing about this whole event is that this family who came from a different country to have a better life now gets to remember the day their daughter was taken on the day that we celebrate how 'free' we are. Don't be afraid to step outside your bubble....stir the pot and make some changes.

Well, I checked the news today for an update and all I see is Patty Murray wants Washington to be known as the "Meth Capital of the world". She is asking for federal funding so others can come to the state and see how the Meth heads do it. No, I am not joking, wish I was. Sure you guys aren't a foreign country?

After her remarks about what an honorable dude Bin Laden was and now this Meth annoucement, I have to really wonder, what is wrong with you people?
Can you not see the forest for the trees? The woman needs mental health treatment, asap.

From what I have read; Zina did not talk to strangers and was a guarded child, thanks to the good sense of her parents. Sadly, she is robbed of her American life by an illegal (on paper) that should never have been there in the first place, on the 4th of July, no less.

This story is TOO SAD!

Yeah you guys in WA have had some pretty sick people doing sick things. Ted Bundy, Gary Ridgeway and now this piece of shit. Why did they bargain with Ridgeway? Instead of giving him multiple life sentences why didn't they just kill him? You can only serve one life sentence and a death sentence, it's either rot or die. Rest assured the family of the victim in Tacoma feels cheated and that their loved one didn't matter, what doesn't matter is Gary Ridgeway and his comfort zone. That Sheriff did his job big time. He knew someday that who ever the GRK was he was gonna get him if he died trying and that is what makes him dedicated, I am very impressed with him and I guess now he is in the legislature isn't he? Sooner or later this freak is gonna give it up. Serial killers love to talk about their crimes, they keep items of the victims so they can re-live the moment! I watched Ridgeway talking to Dave, he was having a fine time re-living every moment and so did the BTK killer another twisted bastard that got a walk, no DP for him either. Anyone want to venture a guess how many kids this piece of shit might have killed? I bet it goes beyond WA. Herb Beaumeister (SIC) was a serial killer from Indiana, however he traveled on business to Ohio and Michigan as he owned a chain of grocery stores and in both states they have unsoloved cases of dead gay men as that is what this guy trolled for and I bet he is the one who was the killer. He did the dutch act in jail awaiting trial so these cases died with him. These guy don't stop until they are caught and finally locked up and give the DP. Ted Bundy went on the chair and I saw a picture of him and he looked like he died painfully and by rights he should have. Putting a needle in their arms don't make it for me. These dirtbags showed no mercy to their victims why should they be shown any????

Yeah, linda i agree with u Seattle Wa isn't that big of the City but i don't understand why we have alot of these sicko scumbags Serial killers and Rapists. I gusess i know just because the Laws are protecting them gave them all these BSHIT, multiple Sentences to stay around. What they should have done to get rid of all these SICKO put them on the CHAIR to have them rest for ever instead of fair appeal hear and there waste of time or give them some lessons etc, lock them up clothe less with their balls cut off in the 135dg room tmp 1hr a day until they got tan, maybe that's not torture they probably don't feel any thing because they're not the human being their are no name for these Scumbages nothing could ever pay for what they have done, DEATH PENALTY still not fair they will died to soon without any pain.

Chris Hanson of NBC should be made United States A.G. and the To Catch a Predator program should become a national law enforcement agency souly staffed with vollunteers and deputized people for the soul purpose of entrapping and arresting these deviant bastards and sending them to the death house of a prison general popullation.

As for Christine Gregwhore, she should be impeached and removed from office for supporting illegal aliens in our state.

The drawing of a suspect in the 2000 case is not that of terapon. Ter does not have high cheek bones and from what I've seen of ter, his hair style is not short. Ter is a little guy probably 5 feet 2 and weigh's about 115 pound's Picture show's a guy with a thick neck and shoulder's. To get a vehicle on Ft lewis, normally one need's a post sticker. At the time in 2000, Ft lewis was an open post. It was closed after Ft lewis authorities discovered ton's of garbage being unloaded on post. The drawing of the suspect seems to me to be one of mongoloid extraction. Korean, Siberia. Parent's are of mixed culture, I think.
