I can't decide who's nicer: the belugas or the biologists. We've been to Point Defiance Zoo several times for my live segments on KING 5 Morning News. The folks there are very accommodating...and they do so much to help us get the shots we need to make for some (hopefully) great TV. Of course, the shots wouldn't be so great without the Belugas. There's no other way to say it: beluga whales are the cutest things you'd ever want to see. Both Qannik -- the new arrival from Chicago...and Beethoven, who's lived at Point Defiance Zoo for nine years -- both whales did their usual amazing stuff this morning while we pointed our cameras at them. It's almost like these creatures know when they're on television! They certainly have a knack for playing to the camera. In fact, if you'll watch this video... you will be amazed to see how Qannik knew exactly what to do..right on cue...when I called him. My producer was telling me to "wrap it up"...but I had to try and get the whale to surface. And he did...and it was amazing! 40 Comments |
