Tackling the 3-Day Bookmark and Share

10:54 AM Mon, Apr 23, 2007 |

Sixty miles in three days. Five months of training walks - including 18-mile treks in the heat of August. Blisters and strained muscles and sore feet.
Why would anyone commit to that? Because everyone I've talked to who's done the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk has told me it was one of the greatest experiences of her life. Because I've always wanted to see if I could push myself through such a grueling event. Because for once, I want to BE in the walk, rather than simply report on it. And because my mother-in-law - a breast cancer survivor - asked me and my sister-in-law to walk with her. She's one of the greatest ladies I know and there's no way I'm going to pass up the opportunity to do this with her.
So here we go - donning our pink bracelets and hats - joining all those other pink-hatted ladies taking their first tentative walks around town. If you see us out there - give us a wave or a thumbs-up. Or better yet - check out
www.the3day.org - to see how you can help.

Good Luck! that will be tough to do, how about riding a road bike? Much easier to acheive 60 miles in a day but hey go for the challenge of walking the same distance. Hopefully you and your family will raise a lot of money too at the same time.

Good for you!! I participated in the 3Day a couple of years ago. My Mom and aunt are survivors, and I carried their caps with me, as a kind of honorary walking (my Mom is 82 and my aunt 90. My husband, my mom, my grandson, and our dog, followed the route, cheering me on. It really did change my outlook. I walked the entire way, and will always carry the feelings and emotions that accompanied those 3 days. You can do it!!
