Your election night commentary

3:51 PM Tue, Nov 07, 2006 |

Millions of dollars, thousands of TV commercials and countless handshakes have come down to tonight. As the results start coming in, what are your reactions? This is your chance to give us a piece of your mind, and we'll select some of your comments to read on our KING5.com live election webcast, hosted by Carolyn Douglas. Leave your comments below, and as always, please keep it civil.

I'd love to watch the Webcast. Shame I only get a message saying the server path is invalid.

For the past few months I haven't paid attention to the millions of dollars in ads. I've tivo'd my favorite programs and left the room during those times when I'm watching something live (such as Monday Night Football).

I don't need to hear the mud-slinging. I don't need to know why one candidate doesn't like the other. I need to know why voting for one candidate/initiative is in my best interest. Monday night I spent the evening researching each initiative & each candidate. I voted for what I believed in.

I hope candidates will someday learn that the smear campaigns aren't worth the money. Instead, let the voters know why they will be the best person for the job.

Todd Smith said:

I am hoping that we elect those that ran ads that told us what they could do for us (i.e. Mike McGavick, Dave Reichert). With any luck, the right people will be elected and our taxes won't skyrocket. I hate to see the tax increases if the Democrats get into power. They've (Democrats) already said taxes will go up as part of a "plan". If this happens, we'll all be poorer with nothing more to show for it.

With Jimmy Carter kissing Manuel Norega in Nicaragua, you can tell where the Democrats stand in reguards to our country. They will flood us with illegals, they will run from the Middle East and the world, they will give aid and comfort to our enemies such as Jim McDermott the traitor has and we will face a far more violent world wide conflict in the future. The Demo-rats can't secure a hand bag let alone the future of this country.

I was at the Post Office checking my mail when a fellow PO Boxer walked behind me. As he passed I said Good Morning. He said it back and then stated dont forget all of your propaganda, refering to the massive amounts of political mailings he could see I was trying to sort. I smiled and jokingly stated back... Oh I cant forget those... how could I make an informed decision without them. Obviously, he and I were both being sarcastic. The point is... regardless of party affiliation, people just want to hear how the candidate is going to make a difference. Less BS and more substance. I now vote for the people that are going to, or have already made a difference to me in my work life. Thats were it all starts.

It's a critical election for the country. We must return oversight and accountability to the executive branch. Republican candidates like Mike McGavick may truly have independent voices, but on this night it's all about which party controls a branch of government.
A balance of power is absolutely needed for the last two years of a radical, neopotistic, corrupt and irrational administration that has only received passive judgement of the republican congress. That's why the democrats must prevail tonight.
Those worried about higher taxation must be reminded that war is a time of sacrifice...not one of tax breaks for the wealthy.

Around the water cooler today a lot of people were commenting on how they voted for anyone but the Republicans. I think the war in Iraq has many people outraged. My question is: How many traditionally "red states" voted "blue" this year?

Cory,
Such a momentous election, but my gripe is specifically with your coverage:
1. live webcasts? and your capacity is so low? doesn't speak well for king5 commitment to coverage.
2. if king 5 were truly serious about covering this election, why aren't you televising the returns until 11pm? (and the delayed CBS coverage at 10pm doesn't count...sorry).

R said:

I have a really hard time with the media claiming wins and losses across the country well before all the election results are counted. It really negates the efforts we make to convince voters that "every vote counts".

Darin said:

The Democrats will be thinking about 2008. They have two years to prove they are really different than the GOP. We can USE that! As soon as they get into office in January, flood their offices with demands for full investigations into the lies that led to Iraq. Tell them that their name on the door is written with erasable marker.

Cory said:

Our apologies for the technical issues with the video. While many were able to watch, others were not able to access the feed. While I'd like to say it was related to the crush of election night traffic, it's still unclear what the problem was. Again, our apologies.

I might borrow from AA (Alcoholics Anonymous or Air America? Does it matter today?), voters declared that they were sick and tired of being sick and tired.

We're sick and tired of this administration treating us as if we're as dumb as O'Reilly thinks or Hannity is.

We're sick and tired of Donald Rumsfeld throwing good lives on top of the 2800 hundred he already threw away.

We're sick and tired of a Vice President who shoots friends first and blames others second.

We're sick and tired of insulting Medals of Freedom, that only demean the word "Freedom."

We're sick and tired of those who question the President's wrong-headed decisions being degraded as traitors.

We're sick and tired of White House spokesmen spinning dead American soldiers lives as just "numbers" or deadly war as only a "nanosecond."

We're sick and tired of over 600,000 dead Iraqis being waved off as if they there weren't once living, breathing humans inside each of those deaths.

We're sick and tired of oversight committees that doen't oversee.

We're sick and tired of Big Oil, Big Pharm and Big Credit Card writing the legislation that benefits only them and the legislators who they will end up hiring.

We're sick and tired of CIA agents being outed.

We're sick and tired of the very veterans the Republicans use to hide behind having their benefits cut.

We're sick and tired of bankrupting our children's futures to pad the bank accounts of the people who need the padding the least.

We're sick and tired of catch phrases being employed in place of real action.

The list goes on embarrassingly long, but basically, America told George Bush and his cronies that we are sick and tired of being played for suckers.

No, it is the fault of the fascist Democrapic Party and their alliance with Islamic fascism.

You want rights for terrorists.

You want to stop us from gaining intelligence on terrorists.

You want the death of Israel.

You care nothing for the future of this country or the world as radical Islam rages through Europe and threatens the moderate states of the Persian Gulf.

You want to placate the barbarian Palestinians and their Hammas/Hezbollah allies.

The Clinton years, The surrender of Iran to Khomeni by Carter in 1979 and the Democrapic Nazi party put us in the situation we are in now with their treason.

SO...where will the new fascist reichs chancellory be built in Washington?

Pat Tillman-Hero R.I.P. said:

Pat Tillman was murdered by the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans. He was vehemently opposed to the illegal Iraq war. He was opposed to George Bush. He campaigned for John Kerry within his Ranger unit. He was an atheist. His favorite author was Noam Chompsky, with whom he planned to meet upon returning from Afghanistan.

The Pentagon used Pat Tillman to propagandize the war effort and then dispatched with him when it realized that he would have single-handedly swayed the election into John Kerry's column if given the chance to return to America and go on the talk shows. He was the dictionary definition of an American patriot: he gave up a multi-million dollar contract to play football so that he could defend his nation against the terrorist who attacked us on 9/11. He would have done better to kick in the door to the White House and break Dick Cheney's neck if fighting terrorists was his goal. There is no way the Fascists would have been able to convince twenty million American football fans that Pat Tillman - war hero and patriot - was "for the terrorists". If he had been given the chance to return to America and speak the truth, Dick Cheney, George Bush, Don Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, Douglas Feith, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, and the rest of the Fascists would already be pushing up daisies.

So even though the murderer who gunned down Pat Tillman couldn't see straight, he was still able to bring him down with a tightly grouped cluster of three rounds to the forehead? That doesn't add up. Even though it was an accident they burned his uniform and body armor and stole his journal? They had the nerve to tell his brother Kevin he was killed by the enemy - the sad part is that they were telling the truth. The enemy in this case is running our country and dragged us into these illegal wars in the first place. They needed Pat Tillman dead because alive he would have handed the riegns of power to the Democrats; something the Fascists weren't willing to allow at that time. Americans should know the name of Pat Tillman's murderer; some of us already know who ordered his death.

(ATTENTION DEMOCRATS: Harry Truman said that Democracy means)

Attention Democraps...

Harry Truman lost the war in Korea, boosted the stability of the Mao regime in China and assured the survival of the North Korean regime.

How many North Koreans have died in the past 50 years?

The Democrats voted for the 1998 Iraq Liberation Law signed by Bill Clinton but had no intention of acting on it. Political theater while people were murdered, starved and killed to keep Saddam Hussain and his two sons in comfort and riches for a decade. If the Democraps had their way, it would have remained the same.

Osama Bin Laden's 1998 Fatwah used the UN and Clinton backed war criminalism of sanctions and food for oil as an excellent recruiting and financing tool to build his terrorist machine.

The Democrats can't defend a hand bag let alone this country. If Jimmy Carter could bargin away Iran to the Ayatollah Khomeni in 1979, the Democrats can bargin away more American lives.

You selfish, self-thinking, short minded idiots just handed the terrorists a throat knife.

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.

While I am happy with the results it is disappointing to read the crazies from the left come out to act like the crazies from the right. I voted for the Democrats because I believed a change was necessary. However, I am not as hopeful that the Democrats will learn the lesson of the Republican mistake of the last 6 to 8 years.

Republicans came into office in 94 as reformers and while I did not agree with some of them they did initially try to change things. The Democrats had grown old, stale, and corrupt. Of course the Republicans could not resist the lure of power and abandoned all pretense of solving problems and thus they are gone.

If the Democrats focus on solving problems, i.e. finding a way to insure the millions that don't have it, raising the minimum wage, dealing with the Medicare and Social Security issues then they will be in power for a long time. If however, they run around yelling impeachment then it will only be two short years before they begin losing. Pork doesn't buy votes just ask the Republicans and the Democrats pre 94.

A message was sent on election night. Worry less about pork and getting retribution and start solving problems. Lets hope both parties heard the message. We have been waiting for a while.

Attention Israel. Kindly build your own Pentagon in Israel. You can have all the "hostile to Israel" witch hunts you want there.
But this is still the United States, and we need military leaders (as well as political ones) who place America's interests first, second, and third, and in whom hostility to ANY foreign power engaging in spying and false flag operations against the United States is a desired trait.

Exclusive: Feds Probe a Top Democrat's Relationship with AIPAC
The Department of Justice is investigating whether Rep. Jane Harman and the pro-Israel group worked together to get her reappointed as the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee
By TIMOTHY J. BURGER/WASHINGTON
Did a Democratic member of Congress improperly enlist the support of a major pro-Israel lobbying group to try to win a top committee assignment? That's the question at the heart of an ongoing investigation by the FBI and Justice Department prosecutors, who are examining whether Rep. Jane Harman of California and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) may have violated the law in a scheme to get Harman reappointed as the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee, according to knowledgeable sources in and out of the U.S. government.

The sources tell TIME that the investigation by Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has simmered out of sight since about the middle of last year, is examining whether Harman and AIPAC arranged for wealthy supporters to lobby House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on Harman's behalf. Harman said Thursday in a voicemail message that any investigation of — or allegation of improper conduct by — her would be "irresponsible, laughable and scurrilous." On Friday, Washington GOP super lawyer Ted Olson left voicemail messages underscoring that Harman has no knowledge of any investigation. "Congresswoman Harman has asked me to follow up on calls you've had," Olson said. "She is not aware of any such investigation, does not believe that it is occurring, and wanted to make sure that you and your editors knew that as far as she knows, that's not true... . No one from the Justice Department has contacted her." It is not, however, a given that Harman would know that she is under investigation. In a follow-up phone call from California, Olson said Harman hired him this morning because she takes seriously the possibility of a media report about an investigation of her, even though she does not believe it herself.

JERUSALEM, Nov 15 (AFP) Nov 15, 2006
US President George W. Bush will not hesitate to use force against Iran to halt its nuclear program if other options fail, Israel's outgoing US ambassador Danny Ayalon said in an interview Wednesday.
"US President George W. Bush will not hesitate to use force against Iran in order to halt its nuclear program," Ayalon told the Maariv daily.

"I have been priviledged to know him well, he will not hesitate to go all the way if there is no choice," said Ayalon, due to return to the Jewish state next week after serving as ambassador in Washington for more than four years.

Outgoing Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Daniel Ayalon asked Bush for the go-ahead to establish such a center during a farewell meeting with the president and his deputy, Dick Cheney.
Bush told Ayalon that "freedom" would be a worthy subject for the center to focus on.

How bitterly ironic that Bush would like the center named after him in Israel to focus on "freedom", when he and his cohorts have literally shredded what was left of the Bill of Rights and Constitution through their actions during the last 6 years.

Just in case of a War Crimes trial.
