Imagine my surprise when, several minutes after police cleared a major crime scene in Everett, I see a man matching the suspect's description running past our live location.

Moments later I was running after him while I spoke with Everett 911 dispatchers, my photographer Ron Sanford close behind.

This man is accused of striking two officers with his vehicle while fleeing a scene earlier that day. For hours, heavily-armed police shut down businesses and combed the neighborhood (read the story).

We were reporting from just inside that search scene live for our noon show. The suspect was described as tall, slender, 30ish with jeans and a sleeveless search -- but the key description was he was bald.

When I saw him, I was on the phone with KING 5 producers, and I told them to send SkyKING to the general chase scene. Then I quickly called 911 and described the chase, and they sent officers speeding that way.

Other citizens also noticed the suspect and gave chase. One of them tackled the suspect in front of me and the chase was over -- a surprising end to an eventful day.
