You learn to have an appreciation for normal. Most of the time we complain about our commute home. We dread yet another day at the office. We hear he same squeak in the stairs that we really should fix. We stop at the same coffee shop and get the same thing every morning. We go to the same meetings to solve the same problems.
Here at WWL covering the hurricane, you’re surrounded by people who have no home, no car, no office, no phone, no running water, no power, no clothes, no photographs of their children, and no idea of what to do next. These folks would do just about anything to have something normal in their lives. I return to Seattle today, and I feel guilty. I have a glut of normal. I wish I could share it.
For several weeks now I have been wondering what happened to Allen Schauffler on the Morning News. He was one of my favorite reporters and miss him on the program. Please advise.
