If you are like me, if it's new and electronic, you have it -- or at least you want it. But consider this: don't cut all the phone lines. During the recent storms in the Gulf, where the power failed, the phone lines remained up and running. But no electricity, no cordless phones. I've heard stories of people who had those good 'ol fashioned phones with a wire plugged into the wall (HEAVENS) still working. They were a lifeline! I keep a corded phone plugged in to a spare outlet. Before you throw out that old clunker, think about keeping it around for that next windstorm. |
