Summer...Finally!

6:32 PM Wed, Jul 20, 2005 |

It seemed like it would never come. After a mildewed May, joyless June and at times soggy early July, the clouds have finally been cleaved by the sun. Temperatures are finally rising to where they should be this time of the year, topping out in the mid 70's.

Keep in mind that although the calendar says summer begins in late June, summer weather doesn't typically arrive until the middle of July. In fact, the period spanning the last two weeks of July through the first two weeks of August offer the most reliable summer weather (interpretation: dry and warm) of the season. That doesn't mean we're always fortunate during that period. I remember more than a few soggy SeaFairs. Still, if this meteorologist is looking to take a vacation and stay right here...that's when I try to book it. Enjoy!
