In 1961 Dr. Fred Darvill and the Skagit Alpine Club were permitted to restore and maintain the scenic historic structure. Thanks to them you can hike the steep switchback trail to 6,890 feet and stay on a first-comes-first-served basis. The Friends of Hidden Lake Lookout are now the current caretakers who maintain the structure that provides a scenic respite and views of the North Cascades National Park and the Glacier Peak Wilderness. There are many organizations with websites that focus on fire lookout towers. Preservation and an interest in early forest fire fighting techniques are just a few of the topics you can discover, they also provide information about lookouts you can rent for a vacation adventure. 4 Comments |
Absolutely incredible! Thanks to you I get to see a part of Washington that I never would. God knows I'm not going to hike the switchbacks to get up there. Such incredibly beautiful pictures. Thank you!
I have heard of this place. What a video.Thank-you so much for sharing.
